Account
Register with an email you control, verify that email, then verify a US phone number. Friend in LA is for adults 18+. Use a unique password and review Sessions & security for signed-in devices.
Account
Add recent photos of you, answer prompts honestly, and set ZIP plus preferences. Profiles that misrepresent you or break Community Guidelines can be limited or removed.
Verification
Phone verification confirms a US number and is required for member access. Admin Identity Verification is an optional paid live review — payment never auto-approves the badge. Elite is a separate peer qualification.
Verification
Purchase Admin Identity Verification, schedule within the published window, and join the live appointment. Missed sessions follow product rules. Overview: /verification-info.
Matching
Set your ZIP and radius during onboarding. Discovery prioritizes people near you in Greater Los Angeles. Like, pass, and match when both people like each other.
Matching
Daily likes depend on your plan. Super Likes, Spotlight, and Profile Boost (included or as packs) help you stand out. Billing hides packs your membership already includes.
Messaging
Direct messaging opens after a mutual match (or as entitlements allow). Lounges are separate group spaces. Report and block stay available in every conversation.
Calls
Either person can request a call; the other accepts or declines. Calls are not recorded by default. Respect cooldowns and never pressure anyone onto a call.
Events
Member and Elite events may use capacity limits, paid tickets, and waitlists. Exact venues often stay private until closer to start. Signed-in members use /events.
Billing
Free, Plus, and Premium are self-serve. Cancel renewals anytime from Billing → Manage billing. Feature packs are one-time; Elite setup is separate and non-refundable.
Elite
Elite is a vetted peer circle for high-profile and wealthy members to date or socialize — Elite Lounge, Elite-only profiles, and Elite events. Payment never grants Elite automatically. See /elite-info.
Elite
After phone verification, open /elite, pay the non-refundable setup fee, submit evidence, and complete the admin interview. Approval is required before the Elite subscription activates entitlements.
Affiliate
Approved affiliates earn a configurable default commission (typically 10%) on qualifying net fees after a hold period. Refunds can reverse commissions. Details: /affiliates-info.
Privacy
Manage visibility in Profile → Privacy. California residents can start CCPA requests at /privacy/ccpa. Read the Privacy policy for full details.
Safety
Meet in public for first plans, tell a friend, and use in-app report/block tools. Badges have limits — they do not guarantee offline safety. Emergencies: call 911.
Safety
Never send money or gift cards to someone you met online. Watch for fast off-platform pressure and investment pitches. Friend in LA will never ask for your password outside official flows.
Yes. Unmatching ends the match thread for both people. The conversation closes and you should not expect further DMs from that match unless you match again later under product rules.
Blocking goes further: it stops further interaction in either direction, including likes and profile views where the product enforces the block. Use block when you do not want any more contact.
If the other person harassed you, scammed you, or broke guidelines, report them as well. Unmatch alone does not create a moderation case.
Approved Elite members can appear in Elite-only discovery and use Elite Lounge and Elite events. That layer is for the peer circle after admin approval and an active Elite subscription — not for everyone on Plus or Premium.
Payment alone never grants Elite. The $499 setup fee starts review; approval and then a monthly or yearly Elite subscription activate entitlements. Denied applications stay outside Elite discovery.
Regular discovery still exists for the broader community. Elite-only surfaces are an additional, gated experience for members who qualify.
Yes. During onboarding and later in profile settings you choose who you want to see and who can see you, within the options the product supports. Those controls shape discovery so you are not flooded with profiles outside your intent.
Preferences are not a license to harass. Be respectful in prompts and messages. Hate or harassment based on identity violates the Community Guidelines and can lead to suspension or removal.
If discovery feels wrong after a move or a change in what you want, revisit preference and location settings before opening a support ticket — most fixes are self-serve there.
Direct messages open after a mutual match unless a specific entitlement says otherwise. Cold DMs from discovery are intentionally limited so people are not flooded by strangers.
Community rooms and plan lounges are separate spaces. You can participate there under each room’s rules without needing a 1:1 match, but those posts are not private DMs and should never be used to spam or solicit.
If someone messages you in a way that breaks guidelines — harassment, scams, non-consensual media — use report and block. Do not stay in a thread hoping behavior will improve.
Matched conversations may allow photo sharing subject to guidelines. Only send media the other person is okay receiving, and never pressure anyone for sexual photos or video.
Non-consensual intimate images, revenge porn, or illegal content are banned. That includes sharing someone else’s private media without permission. Violations can mean immediate removal and, where required, referral to law enforcement.
If you receive abusive or illegal media, do not forward it around. Report it in-app, block the sender, and keep notes for support if asked.
Use Report inside the conversation or open Report. Choose the closest category (harassment, scam, underage concern, etc.) and add short context — timestamps, what was said, and whether media was involved help moderation.
You can block at the same time so the other person cannot keep messaging you while the case is reviewed. Blocking is immediate; moderation outcomes take longer because humans review evidence.
False retaliatory reports can also violate guidelines. Report in good faith when something real happened; do not weaponize the tool after a normal disagreement.
Lounges are group chat spaces for members — and for plan- or Elite-specific rooms where those are offered. They are meant for light social conversation and community, not for private dating threads.
Keep posts civil, on-topic, and free of spam or solicitation. Doxing, hate, scams, and graphic sexual content are not welcome. Hosts and moderators may remove posts or restrict access.
Elite Lounge access requires approved Elite status and an active Elite subscription. Plan lounges follow whatever entitlement your membership includes. Direct messages remain a separate product surface after matching.
Video call requests are available as a product feature across membership tiers, subject to acceptance by both people and any cooldowns the product enforces. Having the button does not force the other person to accept.
Either person can decline. Never pressure someone onto a call, demand they turn cameras on for sexual content, or insist they move immediately to an external app. That behavior can violate guidelines.
If calls feel unsafe or harassing, end them, block, and report. For general offline meetup advice after a call, see Safety.
Live video calls are for real-time conversation. Do not assume platform recording is available or enabled. If we ever offer an explicit record feature, it will be labeled in the product — until then, treat calls as live-only.
Recording or screenshotting someone without consent may violate California law and our guidelines. Never share intimate media under pressure, and never circulate private call content.
If you believe you were recorded or shared without consent, preserve what you can safely keep, then report in-app and contact support. For immediate danger, call 911 first.
Use a neutral background. Avoid showing IDs, mail, door numbers, or other home details on camera. A plain wall or blurred background is enough for a first call.
You can end the call anytime if you feel pressured, catfished, or uncomfortable. You do not owe a full conversation. Afterward, block and report if needed.
Video is optional — never a requirement for dating on Friend in LA. Prefer public first meets in Greater Los Angeles when you decide to meet offline, and tell a friend your plans.
Member events are open to eligible signed-in members of the broader community. Formats vary — socials, mixers, and other hosted gatherings in the Greater Los Angeles area depending on the calendar.
Elite events are for approved Elite Members in the high-profile peer circle. Those gatherings are gated so the room stays peer-level after qualification and an active Elite subscription.
Public marketing pages explain the idea; signed-in members use the events area for RSVPs, waitlists, and ticket details. Always read the listing for age, capacity, and conduct rules before you commit.
If capacity is full and waitlist is enabled, you can join the waitlist instead of a confirmed seat. Approvals and paid tickets follow that event’s rules — some waitlists convert automatically when a seat opens; others need host or system confirmation.
You will be notified if a seat opens. Do not show up as a confirmed guest unless your status says you are in. Exact venue details may stay private until closer to start time for attendee safety.
If you no longer want the seat, leave the waitlist or cancel per the listing so someone else can take it. Paid waitlist or ticket rules are on the event page and in event terms.
Many events hide precise addresses until you are a confirmed attendee and the start time is closer. That reduces crashers, protects hosts, and keeps random social posts from turning a private gathering into an open party.
When the address unlocks, treat it as attendee-only information. Do not post private venues on Instagram, TikTok, group chats outside the guest list, or public forums.
Breaking venue privacy or bringing uninvited guests can get you removed from the event and restricted from future RSVPs under event conduct rules.
Paid tickets follow each event’s listing plus the Refund policy and Event terms. Some events are non-refundable after purchase; others allow cancellation until a cutoff. Always read the listing before you pay.
If Friend in LA cancels an event, we provide the remedy stated for that cancellation — commonly a refund or credit as described for that case. Host or venue changes may have different remedies on the listing.
For billing questions, contact support with your ticket reference, event name, and approximate purchase time. Do not dispute a charge without checking the listing and writing support first when possible.
Follow venue rules, host instructions, and the Community Guidelines. Drink responsibly, respect boundaries, and do not pressure anyone for contact info or private after-parties they did not ask for.
Tell a host immediately if another attendee makes you uncomfortable. Hosts and staff can intervene faster on-site than a ticket filed the next day. You can also leave — you do not owe anyone a full evening.
For general meetup advice before and after events, read Safety. Emergencies are always 911 first; Friend in LA support cannot dispatch police or medical help.
Free, Plus, and Premium are self-serve memberships you can start and manage from the product. They differ in daily likes, discovery tools, and other entitlements listed on Membership.
Elite is a separate peer-qualification path: a $499 non-refundable setup fee, admin approval, then $99/mo or $999/yr. Paying the setup fee never grants Elite automatically.
Feature packs (Super Likes, Spotlight, Profile Boost, verification products, etc.) may appear in Billing when your membership does not already include them. Compare the live catalog before you buy.
Feature packs are one-time purchases such as Super Likes, Spotlight, or Profile Boost. They add a burst of visibility or actions without changing your base membership tier.
In Billing we only show packs your membership does not already include. If Premium already bundles a tool, you should not see a redundant pack for the same entitlement.
Elite members who already cleared identity requirements are not asked to repurchase Admin Identity Verification. Other packs still follow the catalog rules for your account.
Signed-in members cancel from Billing → Manage billing. That stops renewal at the end of the period you already paid for, unless a specific product says otherwise.
Access typically continues through the period already paid. Canceling does not automatically delete your account or remove your profile — it just returns you toward Free entitlements when the paid period ends.
Elite subscription (after approval) is managed separately from Free/Plus/Premium. Canceling Plus does not cancel Elite, and leaving Elite does not wipe a Free account. Delete the account only if you want full removal.
Membership fees are generally non-refundable once a billing period begins, except where required by law. Canceling stops future renewals; it does not usually refund days already started.
The $499 Elite setup fee is always non-refundable whether you are approved or denied. That fee pays for review, not for a guaranteed seat in the peer circle.
Verification appointments and event tickets follow their product rules and our Refund policy. Open support with invoice or ticket references if you believe a charge qualifies for an exception.
Checkout runs through our payment processor (Stripe). Available cards and wallets depend on Stripe and your region — what you see at checkout is the live list for your session.
Friend in LA will never ask you to pay a member directly, wire crypto, or send gift cards for “verification,” “taxes,” or “travel.” Those are scam patterns. Official charges appear through Billing/Stripe flows only.
If someone claiming to be staff asks for payment off-platform, report the account and contact support. Do not send money first and ask later.
Support can assist with locked accounts, billing disputes, verification appointments, and safety reports.
