Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: July 31, 2026 · Operator: Friend in LA (friendinla.com) · Service area: Greater Los Angeles · Adults 18+
This Policy explains how cancellations, refunds, grace periods, and charge disputes work for Friend in LA memberships, Elite setup, verification, feature packs, and event tickets.
1. Overview
This Refund & Cancellation Policy (“Policy”) is part of our Terms of Use. It applies to purchases made through Friend in LA billing (typically processed by Stripe). Nothing in this Policy limits non-waivable consumer rights under California law.
To cancel or request help: use Manage billing for subscriptions, and Contact support for refund questions with your account email, approximate charge date, and product name.
2. Subscription memberships (Plus, Premium, Elite)
Paid memberships renew automatically each billing period until you cancel. Cancel anytime in Manage billing or the Stripe customer portal linked there. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep paid entitlements through the end of the current paid period unless a specific promotion states otherwise.
Refunds: Membership fees are generally non-refundable once a billing period begins. We do not prorate mid-cycle cancellations for unused days, except where required by law or expressly promised in writing for a promotion.
Upgrades / downgrades: Upgrades typically take effect when checkout completes (subject to processor rules). Downgrades usually apply at the next renewal after you change or cancel the higher plan.
Elite subscription: After admin approval, Elite monthly ($99) or yearly ($999) fees follow the same subscription refund rules as other paid plans. Elite setup fees are separate (see Section 5).
3. Free tier
The Free plan has no membership charge. Canceling a paid plan returns you to Free entitlements at the end of the paid period (or sooner if we state otherwise for a specific change).
4. Admin Identity Verification
The Admin Identity Verification purchase reserves staff time for a live review appointment. Payment creates a review request — it does not automatically grant a badge.
- If Friend in LA cancels your appointment, you receive a reschedule at no extra charge or a full refund.
- If you miss a confirmed appointment without rescheduling within the window stated at booking, the fee may be forfeited.
- Declined outcomes (ID mismatch, suspected fraud, policy violation, incomplete session) are not refundable solely because you disagree with the decision, except where we failed to deliver the scheduled review.
Details: Verification Terms.
5. Elite setup fee
The Elite application setup fee (currently $499 USD) is non-refundable in all ordinary cases, including approval, denial, withdrawal, incompleteness, or change of mind. The fee covers application review and related staff time. Paying the setup fee does not grant Elite status or start an Elite subscription.
6. Feature packs and one-time add-ons
One-time digital products (examples: Super Like packs, Spotlight, Profile Boost, Who Liked Me pass, Read receipt pass) show price and any special refund terms at checkout.
- Unused packs may be eligible for refund within a short window if we determine they were not consumed and the request is made promptly through support.
- Consumed, partially used, or expired digital goods are generally non-refundable.
- If a pack fails to deliver due to a confirmed technical fault on our side, we will restore the entitlement or refund.
7. Event tickets
Paid Event tickets follow the refund window published on each Event page.
- If Friend in LA cancels an Event, paid tickets are refunded or credited.
- If you cancel within the published refund window, you receive a refund minus any non-refundable fees disclosed at checkout.
- Late cancellations and no-shows are not refunded unless we offer courtesy credit.
See Event Terms.
8. Promotions and trials
Promotional pricing, credits, or trials are subject to the terms disclosed with the offer. Unless stated otherwise, promotional amounts are non-transferable and may be non-refundable after redemption.
9. Grace periods and failed payments
Failed renewals may trigger a grace period before entitlements pause. We do not refund periods during which the Service was available but payment failed due to expired cards, insufficient funds, or similar payer-side issues.
10. Chargebacks and disputes
Contact support before filing a chargeback so we can investigate billing errors quickly. Abusive or fraudulent chargebacks may result in account suspension, evidence submission to the processor, and collection of amounts owed where permitted.
11. Affiliates
Refunds, cancellations, and chargebacks on referred purchases reverse related affiliate commissions under the Affiliate Terms.
12. Account deletion vs billing cancellation
Deleting your account does not automatically refund the current period. Cancel paid subscriptions first to avoid unexpected renewals, then delete the account if desired. Some billing and fraud records may be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
13. How to request a refund review
- Gather your account email, approximate charge date/amount, and product name.
- Submit via Contact support.
- We review against this Policy and applicable law and respond with the outcome.
14. Changes
We may update this Policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Changes apply to purchases made after the update unless law requires otherwise.
