Join Friend in LAStaff and volunteer hosts enforce Community Guidelines at events. Alcohol policies, age limits, and photography rules vary by venue and are listed on each event page. Harassment, unwanted contact after the event, or violation of venue rules may result in removal and account action.
Friend in LA cannot eliminate all offline risk. Attend with the same precautions you would use for any group activity: share your plans with a friend, arrange your own transportation, and leave if you feel unsafe.
RSVP confirms your seat within published capacity. Some events allow guests; most are member-only. Paid tickets are charged at RSVP according to the price shown — review totals before confirming.
If you can no longer attend, cancel your RSVP promptly so someone on the waitlist can join. Repeated no-shows may affect future RSVP privileges.
When an event fills, you may join a waitlist in order of signup. If a seat opens, we notify the next eligible member with a time-limited claim window. Waitlist position is not guaranteed admission.
Exact addresses for private venues may be hidden until 24–48 hours before start time, or until staff confirms your RSVP. Public venue names may appear earlier. Do not share private venue details publicly or with non-attendees.

Friend in LA is for adults 18 and older who want to meet people in the Greater Los Angeles area for dating, friendship, or low-pressure social plans. If you are under 18, you cannot create or keep an account.
To get started you need a valid email you control, a US phone number you can verify by SMS/code, and a ZIP inside our Greater Los Angeles service area during onboarding. Those checks keep discovery local and reduce fake or out-of-area accounts.
After email and phone verification, you finish onboarding with photos, basics, location, and who you want to meet. Discovery unlocks once that profile setup is complete.
Friend in LA is a local dating and social platform built for Greater Los Angeles. The idea is simple: meet people nearby for dating or social connection, not a nationwide swipe feed with no context.
Core product pieces include nearby discovery, mutual matching, messaging after a match, optional video call requests, member events, community and plan lounges, and an Elite peer circle for high-profile members who qualify.
You can start with a free account, then upgrade when you want more likes, discovery tools, or other paid features. Plans and packs are listed on Membership and managed from Billing after you sign in.
Discovery is built around Greater Los Angeles. During onboarding you enter a ZIP and choose a radius so you mainly see people near you, not profiles across the country.
If you temporarily travel, your matching window still follows the location settings on your account. If you move permanently outside the service area, nearby discovery may stop showing useful results until you update your ZIP and preferences.
We periodically refine which ZIPs count as in-area. If you live in Greater LA and onboarding rejects your ZIP, open a support ticket with the ZIP so we can check the map.
Direct messages open after a mutual match. That keeps DMs for people who both showed interest, instead of cold messages from strangers in discovery.
Some plan entitlements can change messaging access in limited ways; those exceptions are called out on Membership and in Billing for your current plan. Community rooms and plan lounges are separate group spaces with their own rules — they are not the same as a private DM thread.
In every conversation you can still block and report. If someone is pushy, scammy, or breaks guidelines, use those tools instead of arguing in-thread.
For account, billing, verification, or product help, open a trackable ticket from Contact support. We email you a private tracking link so you can read replies and add updates without guessing whether your message was received.

Member events are open to eligible signed-in members of the broader community. Formats vary — socials, mixers, and other hosted gatherings in the Greater Los Angeles area depending on the calendar.
Elite events are for approved Elite Members in the high-profile peer circle. Those gatherings are gated so the room stays peer-level after qualification and an active Elite subscription.
Public marketing pages explain the idea; signed-in members use the events area for RSVPs, waitlists, and ticket details. Always read the listing for age, capacity, and conduct rules before you commit.
If capacity is full and waitlist is enabled, you can join the waitlist instead of a confirmed seat. Approvals and paid tickets follow that event’s rules — some waitlists convert automatically when a seat opens; others need host or system confirmation.
You will be notified if a seat opens. Do not show up as a confirmed guest unless your status says you are in. Exact venue details may stay private until closer to start time for attendee safety.
If you no longer want the seat, leave the waitlist or cancel per the listing so someone else can take it. Paid waitlist or ticket rules are on the event page and in event terms.
Many events hide precise addresses until you are a confirmed attendee and the start time is closer. That reduces crashers, protects hosts, and keeps random social posts from turning a private gathering into an open party.
When the address unlocks, treat it as attendee-only information. Do not post private venues on Instagram, TikTok, group chats outside the guest list, or public forums.
Breaking venue privacy or bringing uninvited guests can get you removed from the event and restricted from future RSVPs under event conduct rules.
