Community Guidelines
Last updated: July 31, 2026 · Operator: Friend in LA (friendinla.com) · Service area: Greater Los Angeles · Adults 18+
These Guidelines set the standards for profiles, messages, calls, rooms, events, and Elite spaces on Friend in LA. They supplement our Terms of Use and apply to every member.
1. Our community standard
Friend in LA is for adults in Greater Los Angeles building real local connections — friendship, activity partners, dating, and peer social plans. Treat people with respect. Payment, plan tier, verification badges, and Elite status never excuse harmful behavior.
2. Adults only
- You must be 18+ to create an account or use the Service.
- Do not misrepresent your age.
- If someone appears underage, stop contact and report immediately.
3. Authentic identity
- Use recent photos of yourself. Do not use someone else’s photos.
- No impersonation of other people, celebrities, brands, or staff.
- One person per personal account unless we authorize otherwise in writing.
- Do not buy, sell, or rent accounts.
4. Respect, consent, and harassment
- Harassment, hate speech, slurs, threats, stalking, and intimidation are prohibited.
- Accept “no,” unmatched, blocked, or declined call requests without retaliation.
- Do not share another member’s private information (doxxing), private messages, or intimate images without consent.
- Unwanted sexual comments, pressure for meetups, or coercion are not allowed.
5. Scams, spam, and commercial solicitation
- Do not solicit money, crypto, gift cards, investments, or “emergency” wires.
- No multi-level marketing, escort commerce, or paid sexual services.
- No mass spam, bots, or scraping.
- External links are fine when relevant and non-abusive; phishing and malware links are not.
6. Sexual content and nudity
Public profiles, discovery cards, and community rooms must stay appropriate for a mixed adult audience. Explicit sexual content, pornography, or sexual services advertising in public areas is prohibited. Consensual adult conversation between matched members in private messaging is allowed unless it becomes harassment, non-consensual, or commercial activity banned by these Guidelines.
7. Messaging, rooms, and video calls
- Do not pressure people onto video calls or off-platform apps.
- Do not record calls without required consent under California and applicable law.
- Lounge and room conversations must follow the same respect rules as DMs.
- Elite Lounge and paid lounges are still moderated spaces — status is not immunity.
8. Events
- Follow host and venue rules (alcohol, photography, capacity, check-in).
- Do not share private venue details with non-attendees.
- Harassment at Events can result in removal without refund and account action.
- See Event Terms and our Safety guide.
9. Verification and Elite integrity
- Do not submit forged IDs, deepfakes, or another person’s documents for Admin Identity Verification.
- Do not misrepresent wealth, public status, or credentials in Elite applications.
- Buying or attempting to buy badges or Elite approval outside official flows is fraud.
- Elite is for genuine high-profile peers seeking peers — not a purchased vanity label.
10. Illegal and dangerous activity
Do not use Friend in LA to plan or promote illegal activity, violence, trafficking, exploitation, weapons threats, or substance sales. We may report credible threats and serious crimes to law enforcement.
11. Reporting and enforcement
Use in-app report and block tools. We may warn, limit features, remove content, suspend, or permanently ban accounts based on severity, history, and evidence. We may preserve records for appeals, legal process, or safety.
Enforcement examples (non-exhaustive): temporary messaging limits; removal from Events or rooms; badge revocation; account termination; evidence referral to authorities.
12. Appeals
If you believe enforcement was mistaken, contact support within 14 days with your account email, approximate date of the action, and a concise explanation. Appeals are reviewed in good faith; reinstatement is not guaranteed.
13. Changes
We may update these Guidelines as the community and product evolve. Continued use after the updated date means you accept the revised Guidelines.
